Whether you’re closing out Pride Month with a movie marathon or want to continue learning about the LGBTQ+ experience all year round, these movies (in no particular order) can accomplish both. And the editors at Katie Couric Media compiled their favorite LGBTQ+ movies to help you choose. Of course, it’s apparent we need more representation in film, but as of now, there is a pretty great selection of LGBTQ+ movies about the queer experience to choose from.
And let’s not forget the classics, like Philadelphia, that walked so Simon could run. Sure, they might be the most fun, but if you’re looking for a quieter way to participate in Pride Month or learn about the LGBTQ+ experience any time of year, try watching a movie! Thankfully, the Hollywood landscape is changing and every year we see more films showcasing LGBTQ+ stories, like Love, Simon and Moonlight. And even during Pride Day and Month, parades aren’t the only way to celebrate and commemorate. We should be honoring and learning about this community all year. Pride Month isn’t the only time to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community.
